Not Talent Acquisition but Talent Access
Talent Acquisition
is the process of identifying, attracting, selecting, and retaining highly qualified people. It involves a key part of the employee’s journey and is arguably one of the most important drivers of organizational success.
For a variety of reasons, the success of an
organization during its growth depends on its ability to acquire talent.
- Attracting
top talent: Talent acquisition helps businesses find and select the most
qualified applicants for available positions. The company's specific
demands and future goals are considered while developing talent plans. In
this manner, the personnel hired can assist the company in the long run
and suit the organization's basic values in addition to being competent
and experienced.
- Decreasing
costs: By optimizing the hiring process, raising the standard of hires,
and reducing loss, a carefully planned talent acquisition plan helps cut
recruitment expenses by ultimately saving time and money.
- Improving
employee retention: Businesses can enhance employee retention by
developing talent acquisition methods that assist in finding personnel
that support the company's overall goal and vision and who fit in well
with its culture. In addition, this can boost team morale, enhance
organizational knowledge and expertise, and save money.
- Building
effective teams: Assisting businesses in assembling teams of individuals
with a variety of experiences, expertise, and skill sets is one of the
main goals of talent acquisition. Increased productivity, teamwork, and
problem-solving follow from this.
- Creating
a diverse and inclusive workplace: Employers can increase the diversity
and inclusivity of their workforce by implementing talent acquisition
initiatives. A better employer brand and increased creativity and
innovation result from this.
- Maintaining business continuity: An effective talent acquisition plan builds a pool of exceptional applicants and considers the company's possible future personnel requirements. Proactive talent management companies guarantee access to qualified personnel throughout periods of transition or emergency. IBM is a fantastic illustration of a proactive company. Since there is a growing need for data scientists, the company has partnered with multiple colleges to provide training for aspiring data scientists. In order to attract potential candidates after graduation, they are fostering relationships with them early on.
A study on talent acquisition conducted by Tripathy (2014) shows that "before adding staff or simply filling a vacant position, it is important to have a clear sense of the gaps as they relate to the skill sets needed to meet current and future performance requirements. Otherwise, you are simply adding people that may not contribute to the organization's success.
Talent Access: What Is It?
We have come to realize The Great Resignation. Organizations no longer have the same degree of influence over their workforce as they once had, thanks to the Great Resignation. As a result, employees keep reconsidering their current connections with the companies they work for. This suggests that companies should reconsider their individual employee interactions.
In 2024, adopting a more proactive and long-term strategy that establishes channels for talent acquisition will be crucial.
This is not to argue that acquisition is unimportant; in fact, we think that opening up access will help acquisition even more, since talent nowadays requires a lot more than simply an alluring offer.

Companies have also caught on; as one of the most significant HR trends of 2024, 48% of businesses cite enhancing talent progression and promotion procedures as essential business strategies to boost talent availability.
As a result, businesses all over the world have begun looking into extremely flexible employment arrangements that go beyond the idea of full-time labor. These days, managers have the choice of recruiting permanent staff members and using freelancers or temporary labor for certain projects. Now that freelancers are a key component of talent acquisition strategies, companies may quickly bring on brilliant people with specialized talents for specific tasks. Project budgets and schedules have both dropped dramatically.
